A golden cake for a golden dog and some mixed-up calfie mayhem!

Welcome back guys! Today we have photos of a golden bake I made in memory of a special dog who passed away a few years ago, at the ripe old age of 17. (Around 124 in dog years!)💛 Also, a quick recipe for a yummy breakfast I have been making and an update on our little four legged friends Riani and Patsy! Enjoy!

To kick off, here is the cake: a genoise sponge cake filled with whipped cream and a healthier passionfruit buttercream. A special cake for a special dog, whose 23rd birthday (161 in dog years!!) was a few days ago. We thought it was fitting to have a special tribute for her, so I made this. We all miss her even with the memories of when she broke into the unopened dog food bag and literally ate a third of it, or tucking into rotting compost like it was Michelin starred!😇😂 Here is a photo:

Our beloved girl enjoying the beach! Rest peacefully 💛
My Passionfruit Genoise Sponge. I think our dear departed would polish this off in approximately 10 seconds flat.

Now for the recipe. Yummy and super simple! TUNA MAYO SANDWICH: Serves 1. 1 small tin wild caught tuna in springwater 2 split corn cobs/1 whole one, raw 2+ Tbsp mayonnaise 2 big lettuce leaves like Cos 2 pieces of bread, ideally (fresh!) sourdough 1. Drain tuna. Using a knife, cut the corn kernels of the cob. 2. In a small bowl, mix tuna, corn kernels, and mayonnaise until it is your desired texture. 3. Dollop all tuna mixture on 1 slice of bread. Top with lettuce. Put on other slice of bread. Enjoy! Note: my little brother enjoys adding avocado and olive pieces in the tuna mixture. I do not. My mum hates tuna entirely. It’s up to you. Photos soon!

Now for the mayhem…our little friends have been busy lately! Although she was getting milk from a bottle, Patsy decided recently she had had enough of waiting. Riani followed suit. Here is the result:

The result!

This is Daphne. Daphne does not currently have a calf, so the girls quickly learnt to take advantage. First Patsy. Then Riani. Daphne seems to have accepted Patsy and has even taken to mothering her, which while Patsy still has her mama she has enjoyed. (Patsys mum doesn’t have much milk.) Riani soon decided that sharing her precious milk wasn’t for her though, so she found Lola, another currently calf free mother. Lola doesn’t seem to mind, and Riani is persistent, so it works. (She is still getting topped up though.) More photos tomorrow morning.

Just another week of farm chaos. Farm life is never boring! Thanks for reading! Love Amarylli 🩵🐴
